Back Garden (Chislehurst)
This is a very nice sized back garden that needed redesigning due to a new extension being added to the house. My clients wanted a garden that they could entertain in, with a large lawn, that was low maintenance. The design had to incorporate a large retaining wall which had been built after the extension which was added to retain the lawn.
I took advantage of the wonderful bi-fold doors off the kitchen and the south facing aspect of the garden to site the entertaining / barbecue area next to the house. A herb garden and eating area are positioned directly outside the kitchen along with an informal seating area accessed via the lounge. The design is contemporary using large moleanous blue limestone to offset the grey rendered retaining walls which is in keeping with the contemporary design of the new extension. A set of steps leads up to the lawn with two large multi-level planting areas either side. This garden will be built in different stages with the immediate focus on the main patio area first.
