Back Garden (Billericay)
Lesley wanted to turn a sloping, shady, wet corner of her garden into an inviting entertaining space. After having a re-design internally on the kitchen, french doors were added that opened out onto the garden. Using this entrance into the garden as a starting point, a path was laid that ran up into the main garden and also off to the entertaining area. Steps were included to deal with the sloping site and enable a level, covered entertaining area nestled among the existing silver birch trees for her teenage son and friends.
I took advantage of the french doors looking out onto the garden to site the requested pond. Using railway sleepers to fit into the rustic feel of the garden a raised planting area and pond were created. The railway sleepers provide a seating area to admire the pond from the path way with the upper pond edge finishing at the same level as the lawn.
Planting needed to be fairly robust as the family has two large dogs so a mixture of architectural flax and shade loving specimens were selected.
