Hidden Corners – London
It’s amazing what secluded little hideaways you can create within your garden using the right plants and structures. This garden was a blank canvas being a flat, rectangular space with no planting after the new build house had been completed. The requirement was a seating area that caught the morning sun but offered shade and seclusion for the remainder of the day in a south facing garden. The structure is a breeze house which was bought direct and installed by their in-house team after the laying of a suitable base. The breeze house was situated in the north west corner of the garden to catch the morning east facing sun. Planting consists of structural and ground cover plants such as Fatsia japonica, Berginia cordifolia, Phyllostachys aureocaulis spectabilis, Sambucus nigra ‘Gerda’ and Ajuga reptans ‘Atropurpurea’ to name a few. The photo was taken a couple of years after planting and shows how quickly you can create an oasis from nothing.
